I think nookfriends is meant to be a friendly website and they try and state that its meant to be a fun place to share your dodo code and visit others

Exactly. That's how it's meant to be. But people take advantage of it to force other users to accomplish things they're too lazy to do.

Don't get me wrong, trading things isn't a bad thing or isn't wrong. But it shouldn't be mandatory and make other users feel like they must trade at gun point.

The whole point or essence of the game is to work hard to make your island the best it can be, interact with others and make your island reflect your personality.

That's where the fun is. Being proud about how hard you've worked to make it your own. Any gifts from other users are just a bonus.
